Communities of practice
We don’t just talk about resilience – we bring people together to make it happen!
Our Communities of Practice (CoPs) enable increased collaboration across the resilience community to share best practice, identify opportunities and create greater shared awareness.
CoP will be where real collaboration happens, and will enable professionals to:
- Exchange ideas and share best practice – Bringing together expertise from across sectors.
- Find solutions and opportunities – Tackling challenges through collective problem-solving.
- Making change happen – Turning insight into action and driving improvements in resilience policy and practice, and creating a greater shared awareness.
We are delighted to support three key communities of practice:
- The Resilience Community Training and Exercising Forum – bringing together local partnerships to collaborate on policy, development, and delivery of training and exercising within the local resilience community 1
- The National Organisations Training and Exercising Group – bringing together national organisations to collaborate on policy, development, and delivery of training and exercising.2
- CoP open to training and exercising leads in local resilience forums (LRF) and has representation from all
- CoP only open to training and exercising leads in national organisations
- UKRA Affiliates – specially selected partners with a direct stake in resilience vocational training and education

ResilienceDirect
ResilienceDirect is a government owned, secure web platform for exercising, planning, response and recovery.
It supports the seamless working of the local resilience community alongside national UK government departments and agencies – across diverse geographical and organisational boundaries.
The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 requires that emergency responders co-operate and share information in order to efficiently and effectively prepare for, and respond to, emergencies and ensure that action is coordinated.
ResilienceDirect helps organisations to fulfil these duties by supporting the adoption of common working practices, and ensuring that key information is readily and consistently available to users.
To qualify to use ResilienceDirect, you must be a member of an organisation in the resilience community. Contact the ResilienceDirect team to check if this applies to you.
